What Are the Benefits of Reiki and How Does it Work?

You’ve heard of massage therapy and acupuncture; now meet Reiki, the newest ancient healing technique. Our specialists explain what it can do for you.

At Earthy Ruby in Cupertino, California, we offer Reiki therapy as part of our holistic wellness services. But what is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan and has been practiced for centuries. It works by transferring life force energy from our experienced soul embodiment coach and Reiki healer, Monica Franaszek, to you through gentle touch or hovering hands. Her expert techniques restore balance and harmony within your body, mind, and spirit. Here, she explains more about this time-honored healing method and how it works.

Reiki is a complementary therapy

Reiki is a noninvasive, relaxing, and safe practice that uses light touch or hovering hands. It’s called complementary therapy because it works well alongside other medical and therapeutic modalities.

Reiki masters like Monica Franaszek spend years undergoing the attunement process and learning rituals that open your body’s energy channels or chakras. There are three levels of attunement:

  • Reiki I enables the practitioner to treat themselves and others through touch
  • Reiki II enables the practitioner to use symbols for remote healing
  • Reiki III enables the practitioner to attune other Reiki students in the practice

As a third-degree Reiki master, Monica Franaszek provides top-level Reiki healing for a variety of mental and physical health conditions.

How Reiki works

No one really knows why or how Reiki works from a scientific perspective, but we can help you understand the concept.

Monica acts as a conduit between you and your body’s vital source of energy. Her energy flows through her hands and into you to balance your energy. Once your energy is boosted and balanced, your body can resume self-healing as it was designed to do.

You choose either a 30- or 60-minute session. You lie on our comfortable Reiki table, fully clothed, as Monica’s hands hover over you in a series of different positions. You may feel a light touch, gentle warming or tingling sensations, or nothing at all. But even if you don’t feel anything, it doesn’t mean Reiki isn’t working. The energy flow is invisible, and you’ll notice its effects in the days and weeks to come.

We offer Reiki for many different conditions, including:

  • Chronic pain
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Mood disorders
  • Sleep problems
  • Stress
  • Hypertension
  • Tension headaches

Reiki can also be helpful anytime you need to release tension and relax, such as before traveling, facing a stressful situation, or undergoing surgery.

What does scientific research say about Reiki?

Reiki’s safety is undisputed, but its efficacy can be tricky to prove because of its subtle and complex nature.

Although researchers are still trying to find the best type of study to measure Reiki’s effectiveness, several studies support Reiki’s ability to reduce stress, improve relaxation, and promote overall well-being. Studies have shown that it can reduce pain levelsimprove sleep qualityboost moods, and even help with physical healing.

We’ve seen firsthand how Reiki can help people heal from physical ailments such as headaches and muscle tension. We’ve also seen it help people cope with emotional issues such as anxiety and depression.

At Earthy Ruby, we believe in providing compassionate care that honors each individual’s unique needs and circumstances. Our philosophy aligns perfectly with the principles of Reiki: focus on positive energy, be kind to yourself, practice gratitude, be mindful, stay connected to your inner self, and trust in the process of healing.
